  • CEJJES Conference & Retreat Center

Providing an affordable meeting and retreat facility for non-profit and community organizations that share our vision and mission is a service that CEJJES provides to the local community. The CEJJES Institute houses a meeting space that can serve up to 50 people theater style, 32 classroom style and 16 boardroom style. There are also three breakout spaces available. The CEJJES Conference Center has become integral to the non-profit organizations and small businesses in the tri state area as it is used regularly for meeting, retreats and intimate receptions. Our conference facility is fully wireless for Internet access, equipped for digital projection, DVD and video projection and by 2009 will have video conferencing capabilities. During warmer seasons, the spacious grounds of the facilities are also available for use. The Institute has a full-service kitchen for the storage, warming or preparation of foods. Cooking is not allowed at our facility.

The Susan G. Gordon Nature and Fitness Trail is located on approximately 13 acres of woods and meadows surrounding The CEJJES Institute. The trail is open to the public and provides visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the natural surroundings as well as to learn about the unique local ecological system.

    Setting:

The Pomona location is beautiful year round and is the perfect setting for the Institute that occupies two buildings on the southeastern edge acres of undeveloped land across the road from a 300 year-old working farm. The Institute also houses and art gallery dedicated to the great American painter, Charles White whose powerful images depict the Black experience. Also, within the Institute is the Rockland African Diaspora Heritage Center, an exhibition center that interprets the contributions of people of African descent. The focus of the Center is primarily the ex perience of Black people in Rockland County and New York State.

Receptions:The CEJJES Institute is also available for intimate business receptions throughout the Charles White Gallery and Heritage Center exhibition spaces. Outdoor spaces can also compliment the event.
